'Grow Groups Matter, Profoundly'
Grow Groups have been critical in the development of my faith and practice. When I was a child, I remember my parents’ small group meeting. They sang (my mom played the piano), read scripture, shared how God was working in their lives, prayed for each other, and followed up. The intimacy and joy they shared made a real impact on me. When I was a senior in high school, I was in a Grow Group which began the transform of my own life in profound ways. Ever since, I have sought out or began a Grow Group from a boat in Alaska to here at Munholland. I was in (and led) a Grow Group last year and am very grateful I did.
Grow Groups are more than just another church program in the life of the church. They are smaller, more intimate, engage Scripture, and most of all challenge us to live out our faith on a daily basis. They are personal and practical. It is easy to feel like a face in the crowd at church. Grow Groups provide a circle of friends who get to really know you, pray for you, care for you, and walk with you through life’s challenges. They provide a safe place to study Scripture, ask questions, and learn from one another. Growth happens not just by listening to a sermon, but by talking, reflecting, and applying God’s Word together. Grow Groups help us live out the mission of the church by creating space for hospitality, service, and outreach.
Faith isn’t only for Sunday mornings, but to be lived out in every part of life every day. Grow Groups help you do that. I hope you will join one this year. Make sure to sign up this Sunday at church.
May God grow us up together.
